Tiruvannamalai: The Karthigai Deepam festival began with flag hoisting at the Arunachaleswarar temple in Tiruvannamalai today (Dec. 04). Sivacharya hoisted the flag on the golden flagpole. The Karthigai Deepam festival at the Annamalaiyar temple in Tiruvannamalai began with a grand ceremony this morning with flag hoisting. On this occasion, Annamalaiyar, dressed in special attire near the golden flagpole, hoisted the flag on the golden flagpole in front of thousands of devotees gathered in the Unnamukovil premises. Amman and Parasakthi Amman appeared. The chariot procession will take place on the Thirukarthigai day on December 13th at 9 am. On that day, at 6 pm, the Maha Deepam will be lit on a 2,668-foot-high mountain. A large number of devotees from various parts of the country and abroad will come to see the Maha Deepam. Arrangements are being made for this.
