Panic as leopard enters Bharathiar University campus

Coimbatore: A holiday was declared for students after a leopard entered the Bharathiar University campus. All were safely evacuated. Bharathiar University is located on an area of ​​1,000 acres near Maruthamalai, Coimbatore. Yesterday at 8:00 am, a leopard entered the university campus.

Some university teachers and students who were engaged in morning sports practice saw the leopard. They informed the forest department.

The forest department officials who arrived there made the teachers and students stay safely in the hostels. Despite searching in various parts of the university, the leopard was not found. The forest department advised all the students and teachers who came to the university yesterday as usual, unaware of the leopard’s movement, to stay in the classrooms. All the university’s programs were postponed.

During the search by the forest department, it was found that the leopard had gone into the forest area. Following this, the students who were brought from the classrooms to the entrance gate in buses were safely sent away.

The forest department, which is constantly monitoring, has taken steps to install surveillance cameras in the areas adjacent to the university. University negligence without removing the bushes

District Forest Officer Jayaraj said, “There is a bush near the university. A notice has already been issued to the administration to clean it. It has not been cleaned yet. “Since the leopard has come, a notice will be issued to the university administration again to clean the area. The leopard has now gone into the forest. It has been instructed to install three surveillance cameras to monitor its movements,” he said.
