Coimbatore; Passengers travelling in government buses will now be able to pay their tickets through QR code, ATM and card.

The Tamil Nadu government is taking various steps to simplify the services of state transport corporations with the help of modern technology.

As part of this, the ‘Bus’ app has been introduced to know about the arrival of Coimbatore city buses. In it, the bus can be found on which road the bus is coming through the GPRS device installed in the bus.

Following this, the State Transport Corporation has taken steps to provide ‘digital’ services to Coimbatore passengers.

As part of this, the QR code facility and ATM card ticket payment facility are to be implemented.

While the ‘digital’ device for this has been 100 percent received, only the steps to link it with the bank are pending.
Once that is completed, the digital transaction process will be started in buses, said an official of the Coimbatore Divisional State Transport Corporation.

He said:
Today, QR, line process, ATM, card ‘swiping’ machines are used in various areas to pay fares. People make money transactions easily. This process is planned to be implemented in government buses as well.

Through this, the retail problem will be solved. There will be no waiting for passengers. The problem between passengers and conductors will be solved.
All the procedures have been completed. The ‘swiping’ machines should be linked with banks and the ticket fee paid through them should be credited to the bank account of the State Transport Corporation.

The work for this will also be completed within two months. This system can be easily implemented in all town buses. The work of conductors will also be made easier.
Thus, he said.
