Coimbatore, December 13, 2024 – The ground breaking ceremony of the construction of a school auditorium and a sports hall under the C. R. Swaminathan Memorial Donation Scheme was held successfully at the Government Higher Secondary School in Sarkar Chamakulam, Kovilpalayam, Coimbatore today (13.12.2024). The project is worth Rs. 2.5 crore. Coimbatore District Collector Mr. Kranti Kumar Padi attended the event as the chief guest and delivered a special speech. The event was attended by the District Principal Educational Officer, Mr. Balamurali, donors of the C. R. Swaminathan Memorial Project, members of the Rock Organization and founder of the Rock Organization and Chairman of C. R. I. Pumps Company Mr. G. Soundararajan,
Trust, Chairman, Mr. R. R. Balasundaram, ROCK Organization Chairman Mr. Thulasitharan, S. S. Kulam Union President, Mr. Suresh, Vice President Mr. Vijayakumar, S. S. Kulam School Headmistress Mrs. Vimala and other dignitaries were present.
As part of the event, the top three achievers in classes 10 and 12 for the academic year 2023 – 2024 were presented with the C. R. I. Pumps School Toppers Awards. The students were felicitated with medals, trophies and cash prizes in recognition of their outstanding academic performance.
The CRS Memorial Endowment, established in memory of the late C. R. Swaminathan, focuses on addressing critical infrastructure gaps in government schools. This initiative aims to improve educational opportunities for students from rural and backward backgrounds.
Key projects announced during the function:-
1. Government Higher Secondary School, Sarkar Chamakulam, Kovilpalayam, to constr
uct an open-air stadium for school assemblies, cultural programmes and sports activities. Modern laboratories for Computer, Chemistry, Biology and Physics laboratories will be constructed.
2. Government Higher Secondary School, Vagarayampalayam, Mopperipalayam: New classrooms, a
Biology laboratory and a dedicated NCC room and three classrooms will be constructed.
3. Government Boys Hostel, S.S.Kulam, Kovilpalayam: It was announced that a perimeter wall and pavers will be erected to improve security and infrastructure.
These projects aim to improve the educational environment of the students and create a better living env
ironment. The CRS Memorial Endowment Committee has announced plans to provide support to other deserving schools in the future, ensuring the continued development of educational infrastructure in the region.
