The Coimbatore District Collector has said that 221 out of 228 panchayats in Coimbatore district are ready to provide internet facility under the Bharat Net project.
In this regard, Coimbatore District Collector Krantikumar Padi said in a press release:
‘The Bharat Net project, which provides internet facility in 228 village panchayats in Coimbatore district, is currently being implemented in full swing by the ‘Tamil Nadu Fiber Optic Network Company’.
Connection is being made through electricity poles and via land. So far, 221 out of 228 panchayats in Coimbatore district are ready to provide internet facility. The equipment for this project is installed in the Gram Panchayat Service Center or government building in each village panchayat and the room is maintained clean by the concerned Panchayat Council President.
Some people are creating obstacles to not carrying fiber optic cable on their own land. This scheme is a complete government scheme. People should not block it. When glass fibers are connected through electricity poles in agricultural lands, there will be no harm to the crops.
There are no metal objects in the glass fiber, and all the people living in every village panchayat can get internet facilities. It is warned that strict criminal action will be taken against those who damage or steal the above equipment, tear the glass fibers and prevent them from being carried through electricity poles.
