A Greener Tomorrow Begins at Amrita as Experts from 7 Nations Join Hands

Coimbatore: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, brought together global leaders in advanced materials, clean energy and environment for a major international conference focused on sustainability. Experts from India, the U.S., Europe, Australia, and Asia delivered 27 plenary talks, while researchers and students presented 73 oral papers and 34 posters on cutting-edge innovations.

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, along with the Center of Excellence in Advanced Materials and Green Technologies, jointly organized the event. Delegates included representatives from IITs, CSIR labs, BARC, Shell India, and top universities like Arizona State University, EPFL Switzerland, University of Groningen, and NTUT Taiwan.

The conference sparked over 25 new academic and industry collaborations, including joint PhD programs, research projects, and discussions on dual-degree initiatives with U.S. institutions. Several research papers presented at the event will appear in leading journals such as International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Environmental Science and Pollution Research and Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics.

Dr. Sasangan Ramanathan, Dean of Engineering, inaugurated the event in the presence of Prof. Sabu Thomas ( Chairman, Trivandrum Engineering Science & Technology Research Park) and Mr. Renji Isaac (Senior VP, R&D, CEAT Tyres). More than 120 participants attended hands-on workshops on solar energy and electrochemical techniques organized as part of the conference.
