Coimbatore; The Coimbatore Corporation administration is showing seriousness in collecting property tax to get the Rs. 120 crore subsidy provided by the Central Government.
Coimbatore Corporation has to collect Rs. 473.12 crore in the current financial year (2024-25) and Rs. 124.47 crore in the last financial year (2023-24) to collect Rs. 597.59 crore. Till yesterday, Rs. 457.61 crore has been collected. The Central Government has set a target that if 111.1 percent property tax is collected in the current financial year, a subsidy of Rs. 120 crore will be provided.
The Corporation administration is close to 100 percent. It is planned to exceed the target within two days and the work has been accelerated. Accordingly, the Corporation Revenue Department is working day and night to collect taxes.
