Devotee dies of suffocation after climbing Velliangiri mountain range in Coimbatore district

Siva (40) from Pazhalanur village in Tiruvannamalai district, who was descending the 3rd hill after climbing the Velliangiri mountain range in Coimbatore district this morning, collapsed and died of suffocation.

He had been running a grocery shop in Bangalore, Karnataka, for the past 20 years. Yesterday, he died while returning from climbing the 7th hill of Velliangiri Lord in Poondi, Coimbatore district with his relatives and friends.

He had undergone heart surgery (angioplasty) at a private hospital in Bangalore due to a heart problem two years ago.

The Alandur police have seized the body of the deceased Siva and are conducting an investigation. It is noteworthy that the forest department has been continuously urging people with heart problems and respiratory problems not to climb the mountain.
