Coimbatore; A special seminar was held yesterday at the Gujarati Samaj in North Coimbatore. Radhika, a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) State Committee, presided over the event.

The policy of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is to give equal recognition to all languages. When the Official Language Amendment Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha in 1967, the Communists insisted in the Lok Sabha and the Legislative Assembly that the mother tongue should be given priority. They also insisted that no language should be imposed. They expressed the opinion that the mother tongue should be the official language, the language of education and the language of the judiciary of the respective state.
