gainst the removal of flags and banners placed on the road to welcome Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was visiting Coimbatore.

The road blockade, led by Coimbatore Metropolitan District BJP President J. Ramesh Kumar, disrupted traffic in Peelamedu for some time. Following this, the police department gave its approval to place the flags and banners, and the blockade was called off.

He told reporters, “Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Coimbatore this evening to inaugurate the Peelamedu BJP office. We had sought permission from the police department a week in advance to put up flags and banners to welcome him to Coimbatore for a total of three days. They gave verbal orders for this.

But all the flags erected last night have been removed. Similarly, the banners with the Prime Minister and Home Minister’s images printed on them have been removed from there and taken away in the corporation’s garbage truck.

Police and intelligence personnel came without wearing uniforms and removed them. They took a photo of this, snatched a person’s mobile phone and destroyed the photo.

The DMK police are protesting against the visit of Home Minister Amit Shah to Coimbatore, the hoisting of the BJP flags and the opening of the office. They have removed what was required by law to be permitted (flags, banners). To condemn this, a road blockade was held in front of the Peelamedu police station on Avinashi Road in Coimbatore.

Permission to erect the flags has been granted after negotiations. Therefore, this protest has been withdrawn for the time being. If permission is denied for the flags to be erected again or if they are removed after being erected, this blockade will be held throughout Coimbatore. He said.
