Although the winner of the 2025 L&T Mumbai Open tennis tournament that was recently held in Mumbai was Swiss Jill Teichman, the 15-year-old girl from Coimbatore, Maaya Rajeswaran Revathi, has made the tennis world proud.

From local to ESPN, Maaya Rajeswaran Revathi is the talk of the town. What could be more.. Maaya, who is just 15 years old, qualified for the 2025 Mumbai Open tennis tournament by defeating Italy’s Bosa Huerco and America’s Jessica Baila in Qualifiers 1 and 2. She then defeated world number 353 Zarina Dias (Kazakhstan), world number 225 Irina Simonovich (Belarus) and world number 285 May Yamaguchi (Japan) with her powerful serve, threatening returns and aggressive shots. With this, the 15-year-old Maya advanced to the semi-finals of the Mumbai Open.

Although Maaya lost to Swiss Jill Teichman there, this was just the first chapter in her impressive playing career. Maaya has a lot more to achieve. Maaya, who first started playing tennis in the evenings after finishing school in Coimbatore when she was 8 years old, took her to a different direction in life due to her immense passion for the game.Maaya was initially trained by former Indian tennis player and national number one KG Ramesh. After that, Maya was trained by Manoj Kumar at the Pro Sarva Tennis Academy for the last five years.

Although she has competed in many tournaments before, this Mumbai Open gave Maaya an opportunity to be seen not only by India but also by the entire tennis world. Although she lost in the semi-finals, Maaya received a scholarship to get trained at the tennis academy in Spain run by 22-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal, who is considered a world-class tennis legend.
