Coimbatore; On the occasion of New Year and Christmas, special field inspections were carried out by the District Food Safety Department. Accordingly, notices have been distributed to 60 bakeries and manufacturers who did not follow the food quality control regulations. Every month, inspections are conducted by the District Food Safety Department at all shops, food preparation places, hotels and street stalls. Since the consumption of cakes and chocolate is high on the occasion of Christmas and New Year, special inspections were carried out at bakeries and chocolate production places along with regular inspections this month.
In this regard, District Food Safety Officer Tamilselvan said, “We have conducted inspections at 424 places and taken 183 samples and sent them for inspection. We have given notices to 60 bakeries and food preparation companies that had violations of the rules. When buying chocolate for children, it is necessary to check the baking date and expiry date. If there are any complaints, one should come forward to file a complaint without hesitation,” he said.
