Police ban on bursting of firecrackers during New Year celebrations
Bursting of firecrackers has been banned during the New Year celebrations.

The Chennai Police Department has made elaborate security arrangements to ensure that the New Year celebrations are celebrated happily without any untoward incident.

Vehicle inspection teams have been set up at 425 places in 12 police districts including Tiruvallikeni, Kilpauk, Mylapore, T. Nagar, Adyar, Washermanpet, and Koyambedu, where people gather in large numbers.

In addition, 30 surveillance teams have been set up to prevent those involved in bike races. Furthermore, bursting of firecrackers has been banned during the New Year celebrations.
