The 2024 graduation ceremony of coimbatoreGanga College of Nursing was held on December 14 with grandeur. The ceremony which started with the education procession marked a vibrant and memorable event of the celebration. Following the soulful prayer of “Ganga Swarangal”, Ms. Kanakavalli Sanmukanathan, Managing Director, Ganga Hospital and Managing Trustee, Ganga College of Nursing, lit the traditional lamp.
Trustee of Coimbatore Ganga College of Nursing Mrs. Rama Rajasekaran delivered the welcome speech. Following this, Dr. Esther Rachel, Dean and Principal, Ganga College of Nursing and Mrs. Ignatius Mary, CNO, Ganga Hospital lit the Florence Nightingale lamp. Florence Nightingale, presided over by Vice Principal, Ganga College of Nursing Prof. Jebakumari Sudha recited the Pledge to the graduating nurses and Dr. Suma Natarajan, Head, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ganga Women and Children’s Centre, Coimbatore, administered the Pledge to the students for allied health sciences.The Institutional Anthem is performed by first-year nursing and allied health science students, fostering a sense of unity and pride. Head of Department of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Spine Surgery, Ganga Hospital, Dr. S. Rajasekaran, who delivered the keynote address, appreciated the graduates for their dedication.
Dr. Esther Rachel, Dean and Principal of Ganga College introduced Dr. RV Ramani, Founder and Managing Trustee of Shankara Eye Care and Institutions as the Guest of Honor who shared valuable insights gained from his vast experience in health and social services during his address. He highlighted the importance of compassion, commitment and ethical practices in the medical profession, encouraging the graduates to take responsibility and embrace their roles as healthcare providers. Dr. Raja Bhaskara Kanakeshwar, Senior Registrar, Orthopedics and Oncology, Ganga Hospital, introduced the Chief Guest, Dr. K. Narayanasamy, Vice Chancellor, Dr. MGR Medica
l University, Chennai, delivered the Chief Guest address. He also urged the graduates to embrace the challenges of the rapidly evolving medical field, stressing the need for innovation, lifelong learning and compassionate care, and inspire them to contribute to healthcare development through their expertise, leadership and commitment to patients.
Around 300 graduates, dressed in formal attire, pledged their professional commitm
ent. Consultant and Head of Department of Anesthesiology, Ganga Hospital, Dr. C. Shekhar administered the oath to the graduates.
Dr. K., Vice-Chancellor, Dr. M. G. R. Medical University, Tamil Nadu, Chennai. Narayanasamy and a memento of the college was released by Dr. RV Ramani, Founder and Managing Trustee of Sankara Eye Care and Institutions.
Two of the Best Teacher Awards were presented by Dr. K. Narayanasamy, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai, and Mrs. Usha Easwar, Bangalore, and the Co-Directors presented the Best Student Memorial Award. Awards for Best Outgoing Student, Best Medical Artist and Academic Excellence were presented by the Board of Directors and Consultants of Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore.
Dr. Raja Sanmukhakrishnan, Consultant Breast Reconstruction, Oncology, Aesthetics and Burns at Ganga Hospital delivered the vote of thanks and thanked everyone who made the event a success.
The evening ended on a jovial note, followed by a vibrant “Bouncing Medics-2024” celebration featuring music and dance performances by students of Ganga College of Nursing.
