Chennai: “What is the DMK afraid of the government when the CBI investigates the Kallakurichi liquor case?”, AIADMK general secretary Palaniswami has asked.
In Sukunapuram, Kallakurichi district, 67 people died after drinking illicit liquor last June. The CBI and CID police conducted an investigation into this incident, which shocked the entire state of Tamil Nadu. Parties including the AIADMK, BJP, and PMK filed a case in the Chennai High Court against this. The High Court, which heard this, transferred the case to the CBI for investigation. The Tamil Nadu government has appealed against this in the Supreme Court. The opposition parties are opposing this.
In this regard, AIADMK General Secretary Palaniswami said in a statement: It is condemnable that the DMK government has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the CBI investigation in the Kallakurichi liquor smuggling case. The DMK government has filed this appeal with the intention of delaying and blocking the investigation of the liquor smuggling case. What is the DMK government afraid of in investigating this case by the CBI?
If the negligence of Stalin’s incompetent government is the reason for the liquor smuggling deaths, how can it be appropriate for the police under his control to investigate this? The AIADMK will continue to fight in the Supreme Court by conducting a proper legal battle and ensuring justice for the 67 lives lost. Palaniswami said in the statement.
