Coimbatore: The traffic police have planned to provide free helmets to 3,000 people, emphasizing that everyone should wear helmets. To create an accident-free Coimbatore, the city police are creating awareness. As part of this, the Coimbatore City Police are organizing various programs to emphasize that two-wheeler riders must wear helmets.

A few months ago, they provided free helmets to those who came on two-wheelers at the Lakshmi Mills junction and emphasized the necessity of wearing helmets.

Now, the city traffic police, in collaboration with Shriram Finance and Elixir Foundation, are planning to provide free helmets to 3,000 people, including sanitation workers. In the first phase, helmets were provided to 500 sanitation workers last week.

Deputy Commissioner of Transport Ashok Kumar said, “Everyone riding a two-wheeler must wear helmets. “Many people who wore helmets in road accidents last year have survived.

Emphasizing this, we are planning to provide 3,000 helmets free of charge to all parties and create awareness,” he said.
