Coimbatore: Peelamedu police have arrested a youth who stole more than 20 two-wheelers from various parts of Tamil Nadu. As the theft of two-wheelers has increased in the Coimbatore metropolitan areas, a special team was formed to arrest those involved in the theft. The special team police were conducting intensive searches in various areas.
In this situation, yesterday morning, while they were conducting a vehicle check in the Chinniyampalayam area of Coimbatore, they stopped a scooter that came through and questioned the person driving it. He gave contradictory answers. It was revealed that the vehicle he was travelling in was a vehicle stolen in the Peelamedu area. The police took him to the station and questioned him.
It was revealed that he is Ajith Kumar, 26, a resident of Virudhunagar, and has stolen more than 20 two-wheelers from Peelamedu, Singanallur, Ramanathapuram and other districts including Chennai.
He said that the stolen vehicles were hidden in a field near the airport. The police seized 14 two-wheelers that he had stashed.

The Peelamedu police said: There are more than 10 cases against the arrested Ajith Kumar. He has made it a habit to steal two-wheelers from various areas and sell them to people smuggling ration rice. He said that he has stolen 19 vehicles so far.
