“Tamil Thembu – Tamil Soil Festival” to be held at Isha!

A grand festival called “Tamil Thembu – Tamil Soil Festival” is being held at Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore from Feb. 27 to March 9 to celebrate Tamil culture.

A press conference in this regard was attended by Mr. Valluvan, a volunteer of the Coimbatore Press Organic Farmer and Tamil Thembu Festival Committee. Speaking at the press conference, Valluvan said, “As per the guidance of Sadhguru, the Tamil Language Club held today (04/03/2025). In this, the ‘Tamil Thembu – Tamil Man Mawsiri’ has been held at the Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore since 2023 to celebrate the pioneering richness and the antiquity of Tamil culture, including culture, heroism, arts, history, food, and lifestyle.
In this regard, this year’s ‘Tamil Thembu Mawsiri’ is being held in a grand manner starting from February 27th. The festival will be held for 11 days until March 9th in front of Adiyogi.

The festival has more than 150 stalls of handicrafts, handlooms, food, agricultural and sports goods. An exhibition of native cows, horses and other livestock is also being held in this festival. Along with this, a ‘Native Cows and Horses Market’ will be held in a grand manner from March 7th to 9th in front of Adiyogi.

In our Tamil culture, performing arts have grown as a conduit for the emotions of the common people, as a record of life history, and as the pinnacle of physical and mental harmony. Nowadays, all these arts are in danger of extinction, therefore, in order to develop and encourage these arts and artists, Tamil cultural art programs are held in the evenings for 11 days.

In particular, many folk art programs including Paraiyattam, Oilayattam, Poikaal Kudhiriyattam, Valli Gummi are held. Along with this, ‘Nayanmargal Kathayatal’ and art programs presented by Isha Sanskrit students are also held.

From the products grown in our Tamil Nadu to the products manufactured, many are unique to this land. In this regard, the festival will also feature an exhibition and sale of 20 geographically-indicated items including Thanjavur painting, Villianur terracotta, Thoda embroidery, Kallakurichi wood sculpture, Mahabalipuram stone sculpture, and Swamimalai Aimpon sculptures.

In addition to this exhibition, simple practical training courses on these arts will also be held for visitors. These training courses are being held from March 1st to 9th.

In order to create awareness among the public about Tamil culture, competitions such as Silambam competition, essay competition, poetry competition, painting competition, Kolam competition, and Parayisai competition will be held. The competitions will be held in two categories: those above 16 years of age and those below 16 years of age. Prizes will be given to more than a thousand winners who participate in this. Not only the strategies used by Tamils ​​on the battlefields, but also the games played on the field are full of heroism, in that regard, the Kongunattu heroic game ‘Recla Betsam’ will be held on March 9. Along with this, fun games and mega races have been organized so that the general public and children can participate and enjoy playing,” he said.
