Chennai: ISRO’s PSLV-C59 rocket successfully launched with European Space Agency’s ‘Propa-3’ satellites.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has been launching not only our country’s satellites but also foreign satellites commercially. Accordingly, the European Space Agency has designed two small satellites named ‘Propa-3’ to study the solar corona. Their weight is 550 kg. Carrying these satellites, the PSLV-C59 rocket was to be launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, at 4:08 pm yesterday. The 25-hour ‘countdown’ for this began at 3:08 pm the day before yesterday. Yesterday, the rocket launch reached its final stage. Suddenly, at 3:10 pm, ISRO announced that the rocket launch would be postponed and the launch would be at 4:12 pm today. A few hours later, ISRO had announced that the PSLV-C59 rocket carrying the ‘Propa 3’ satellites would be launched at 4:04 pm today.
