Those who visit Perur, in addition to visiting Patteswarar, cannot leave without seeing and admiring Kalyani, the Patteswarar temple elephant.
Kalyani has a separate fan base because she is not only seen as a temple elephant, but also as a mischievous mouse princess.
Kalyani was born on 14.10.1991 at the Theppakadu Elephant Camp, Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, Nilgiris. Her father is Mudumalai and her mother is Kamakshi. Kalyani, who grew up with her mother and father, was brought from Mudumalai to Perur Patteswarar Temple by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department in 1994. Currently, Kalyani is 33 years old. She has been the princess of Perur Patteswarar Temple for the past 30 years.

The elephant on the way to Perur Padithurai is tied to a shed. Every morning, at 6:00, it takes a bath. After that, it participates in Go Puja and Gaja Puja at the temple. At 8:30 in the morning, it eats food. From 3:00 to 5:00 in the evening, it takes a bath in the newly built bathtub, plays, and goes for a walk. At 5:00 in the evening, green fodder is provided again. About 180 kg of green fodder is provided per day. Currently, the Kalyani elephant is 9 feet tall and weighs 4,550 kg. For the past 12 years, a pagan named Ravikumar has been maintaining Kalyani. During the Perur Patteswarar temple festivals, the Margazhi Thiruvadhirai Utsavam and the Panguni Uttara Therthiruvizha, a procession is taken around the temple decorated with nethipattam.

In the Hindu Religious Endowments Department, only the Perur Patteswarar Temple in the districts of Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Tiruppur, Erode, Namakkal, and Salem has a temple elephant. As a result, the Perur Patteswarar Temple has received Kalyani, a wealth that no other temple has.
