A new elephant camp has been set up in Sadivayal at a cost of Rs 8 crore. The camp, spread over an area of ​​50 acres, has 18 sheds, 3 ponds, 2 carols, borewell, maund and hostels for elephants, a kitchen, shower for elephants to bathe, water tank, crop cultivation for elephants to graze, watch tower, veterinary dispensary, elephant moat around the camp, electric fence etc. Additional Chief Secretary of Forest Department Supriya Sahu inspected the new elephant camp yesterday. Earlier, he met the employees working in the forest trekking project and inquired about the shortcomings and improvements in the project. During the inspection, Forest Secretary Srinivasa Reddy, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Rakesh Kumar, Coimbatore Zone Conservator of Forests Venkatesh, District Forest Officer Jayaraj and many other officials were present. ‘Security fence at a cost of Rs. 7 crore’

Supriya Sahu said that a new elephant camp will be opened soon. The current status of the project to build a security fence at a cost of Rs. 7 crore to prevent wild elephants from entering the village in the area under Coimbatore and Poluvampatti forest reserves will be known and action will be taken for it. The central government has announced that a special center will be set up in the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary in Anaikatti to prevent human-animal conflict.
