Coimbatore; 2 lakh devotees are expected to attend the Kumbabhishekam of the famous Maruthamalai Subramania Swamy Temple in Kongunadu. The Maruthamalai Subramania Swamy Temple located in Kongunadu is known as the seventh abode of Lord Murugan. The Kumbabhishekam of this temple has begun with great pomp. The work of installing the kalasams on the gopuram vimanas took place yesterday.
A yajna road has been set up with 73 kundas; the first-ever yajna sacrifice will begin today (April 1). The Kumbabhishekam will be held on the 4th between 8:30 and 9:30 am.
Regarding the festival arrangements, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Jayakumar said:
5.83 lakh devotees visited the Thaipusam festival. We expect 2 lakh devotees to visit the Kumbabhishekam festival.
A separate route has been arranged for those who walk through the stairs from the base and a separate route for those who come through the passes issued to VIPs. No vehicles are allowed to go up the hill. They will be taken in a bus.
The Public Works Department is inspecting the stability of the temple halls. Based on that, only 750 people will be allowed to stand on the surface of the halls and watch the Kumbabhishekam. 2,000 devotees will be allowed in the surrounding areas. Passes will be issued by the Hindu Religious and Endowments Department.
There will be a live broadcast
The Kumbabhishekam will be held on April 4 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am. Live broadcast will be made on LED screens at eight places. Holy water will be sprinkled on the devotees through a ‘drone’.
Those who come from the foothills through the stairs will be sent for darshan in batches; there will be 2,000 people in each batch. Thus, he said.
Food quality check
Annadhana will be provided throughout the day. Their quality will be tested. From the foothills to the mountain, water tanks will be placed at 20 places. Mobile toilets will be set up at 60 places. Drinking water, buttermilk and biscuits will be provided. A mini hospital will be operational. Ambulances and fire engines will be kept ready. 1,000 policemen will be involved in security work. 200 Corporation sanitation workers will be involved in sanitation work. A separate space has been allocated for parking vehicles.
