Kongunadu Arts and Science College Professor Receives K. Chidambaram Memorial Award

In a significant achievement that brings pride to the academic fraternity of Tamil Nadu, Dr. S. Raja, Assistant Professor at Kongunadu Arts and Science College, has been honoured with the K. Chidambaram Memorial Award for 2024. The award was presented at a formal ceremony held on July 12 at the Commissionerate of Fisheries in Chennai.

Instituted by the Fisheries Technocrats Forum, a Chennai-based organization, the prestigious award is conferred annually to individuals for their outstanding contributions in the fields of fisheries, aquaculture, and allied sciences. The recognition highlights Dr. Raja’s dedication to research and development in these critical sectors, which are vital to environmental sustainability and food security.

Dr. Raja was selected as one of four distinguished scientists and academicians to receive the award this year. His academic research, combined with community-oriented initiatives, has played a pivotal role in advancing fisheries and aquaculture technologies, particularly in promoting their practical application among student communities

The award is named in honour of the late K. Chidambaram, a pioneering figure in Indian fisheries administration who held senior positions in the fisheries departments of Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and the Union Government. His legacy continues through this award, which aims to inspire excellence in scientific innovation and service in the field. Dr. Raja’s recognition stands as a testament to both his individual merit and the institution’s enduring commitment to academic excellence and societal development.
