Coimbatore; 12,000 Karthigai lamps were lit at the Karthigai Deepa Utsava Festival held at the Racecourse Saradambal Temple yesterday evening. Every year, the Deepa Utsava Festival is celebrated at the Saradambal Temple in the month of Karthigai. Accordingly, the festival was held yesterday evening.
A special Kungkumarchanai was held for Saradambal. Special prayers were offered to Ambal for the welfare of the world. Subsequently, a lamp was lit in an earthen lamp from a lamp near Ambal and another lamp was lit in the temple Mahamandapam. In turn, devotees lit lamps in the temple Artha Mandapam, Mahamandapam, and Chuthamandapas. Lamps were designed and lit in the shapes of Saradambal, Shivalingam, Lotus, and Durga Devi.
The entire temple, including the temple courtyard, the outer courtyard, the arthamandapam, the mahamandapam, and the temple exterior, was illuminated with lights.
The Bharatanatyam group, led by Kalanithi Mridularai, designed the lights in various shapes.
12,000 lights were lit and the devotees worshipped with devotion.
