A Lucknow Railway Research Team is coming to inspect the quality of the iron deck prepared by a Hyderabad company for use on the Coimbatore-Avinashi Road flyover. The flyover is being constructed by the State Highways Department (Special Projects) from Uppilipalayam to Goldwins on the Coimbatore-Avinashi Road. A 52-meter-long iron deck will have to be constructed to cross the bridge where the railway tracks are located in the Hope College area. Since the place belongs to the Railways, it has been decided to carry out the work under the supervision of the department. The iron deck for this has been prepared by a company in Hyderabad. The Railways usually inspect its quality in four stages; so far, three stages of inspection have been completed. Now, a Railway Research Team from Lucknow will visit and inspect the quality.
The thickness of the iron used to make the deck, the strength of the welding area, length, and width will be inspected. After this, the iron ‘deck’ will be painted with silver paint. It will be inspected by the Arakkonam Railway team. Only after this, it will be transported from Hyderabad to Coimbatore and installed between the pillars in the Hope College area in the presence of railway officials. A runway has to be constructed between three pillars in this area alone.
The high-voltage power lines running across the flyover in the Nava India area will have to be removed and buried under the road. For this, excavation work is underway on the SNR road. Only by removing the high-voltage power lines can a runway be constructed in this area. Since Minister Velu has set a target of completing it by April, the Highways Department has expedited both these works.
