Four arrested for trying to sell elephant ivory, leopard teeth

Coimbatore: The forest department has arrested four people who were trying to smuggle elephant ivory and leopard teeth. The forest department received information that elephant ivory and leopard teeth were being smuggled to Coimbatore from Salem and Mettur.
Based on that, a special team consisting of foresters and forest workers, led by the Coimbatore Forest Department officer, was engaged in intensive surveillance.
At that time, the Coimbatore Forest Department stopped a car that came near Ram Nagar, Ram Temple, Gandhipuram and searched it. It contained elephant ivory and leopard teeth. The car was carrying elephant ivory and leopard teeth. The arrested persons were Kiruba, 24, Satishkumar, 26, Vijayan, 45, and Gautham, 26. Wildlife items were seized from them, a case of forest crime was registered and they were sent to jail.
