Erode police have summoned Seeman to appear in person over his alleged bomb-throwing remarks. Seeman was already booked in Vadalur and Ranipet police stations for making defamatory remarks about Periyar. Now, a third summons has been issued for his remarks inciting violence in the Erode East by-election.
During the recently concluded Erode East constituency by-election, Seeman, the party’s chief coordinator, campaigning in support of Naam Tamilar Katchi candidate Seethalakshmi, had said,
“I am criticizing Periyar from the very place where he was born; what can you do? All you have is the onion called Periyar.. What I have in my hand is a bomb. You throw onions at me. I will throw a bomb; let’s see what happens.”
A case was registered against Seeman based on a complaint that his speech was inciting violence and inciting division on the basis of race and language. The Erode Karungalpalayam police have summoned Seeman to appear in person at his residence in Neelankarai, Chennai on the 20th for the hearing in this case.
