Coimbatore: The Railway Police have launched a WhatsApp group to ensure the safety of women travelling in trains.

On the 6th, a young man sexually harassed a pregnant woman travelling in the women’s compartment of a train from Coimbatore to Tirupati and pushed her off the train. Following this incident, the Railway Police are taking various measures to ensure the safety of women travelling in trains.
As part of this, on the orders of Railway Police DGP Vanniya Perumal, a WhatsApp group called the ‘Railway Women Passenger Safety Group’ was started yesterday to ensure the safety of women travelling in trains. This group includes women from various walks of life, including station masters, railway police inspectors, students, nurses, women lawyers, women journalists, child welfare officers, women passengers, women auto drivers, NCC officers. A committee has been formed to ensure that women travelling by train can immediately inform the police if they are in danger. Railway Police DSP Babu, Inspector Meenakshi and others participated.
