Victory Party leader Thirumavalavan presented a cheque for Rs. 10 lakh to Chief Minister Stalin on behalf of the party to provide relief assistance to the districts affected by Cyclone Fanjal.
Chennai: “I gave some guidelines to Aadhav Arjuna, who participated in the book launch function, not to talk about politics. I told him to talk about Ambedkar and his role in the creation of the book. In violation of that, his speech gave rise to various controversies. It has become so much that it has damaged the credibility of the VIC. Based on the need to take immediate action, action was taken against Aadhav Arjuna considering the future of the party,” said VIC leader Thirumavalavan.

VIC leader Thirumavalavan met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at the Chennai Secretariat today (Dec. 9). Thirumavalavan presented a cheque for Rs. 10 lakh to Chief Minister Stalin on behalf of the VJP as Cyclone Fennel relief. Later, he told reporters: “As usual, the Central Government has cheated Tamil Nadu in providing Cyclone Fennel relief. It has allocated only Rs. 944.80 crore. We presented a cheque for Rs. 10 lakh to the Chief Minister on behalf of the VJP for the Chief Minister’s General Relief Fund.

VJP Deputy General Secretary Adhav Arjuna, by posting his views at various events or on social media in the recent past, created a situation that was damaging the party’s reputation and credibility. We have continuously advised him regarding this. However, in the context of his speech at a recent event that was against the reputation of the party and the credibility of the leadership, we have suspended him for a period of 6 months in consultation with the party’s top leaders and the senior management.

We are not under any pressure or pressure from the DMK side. No one from the DMK has spoken about Adhav Arjuna’s speech. The decision that I cannot participate in the event attended by Vijay is an independent decision. There is no conflict between the VKC and the Tamil Nadu Victory Party. We have never had any controversy or problem with Vijay. But when we participate in an event on the same stage with him, we realized that there are many opportunities for our policy enemies, those who do not want our development, and those who want to bring us down, to use it as an opportunity to fabricate stories against us and to distort the truth, and we took this decision considering our interests.

We pointed that out to the private publishers at the very beginning. But, following that, some people deliberately turned it into a topic of discussion due to controversy. I gave some guidelines to Adhav Arjuna, who participated in that event, not to talk about politics. I asked him to talk about Ambedkar and his role in the creation of the book. In spite of that, his speech gave rise to various controversies. It has reached a point where the credibility of the VKC has been shattered. Considering the need to take immediate action, action was taken against Aadhav Arjuna, considering the future of the party.

There is nothing wrong with leaders of different parties with different ideas participating in an event on the same platform. But such a healthy political environment does not exist in Tamil Nadu. A Tamil daily that is trying to disrupt, divert, and change everything should not happen, as if something is going to happen, they made it a headline and said, ‘Dec. 6, a turnaround in Tamil Nadu politics, Vijay Thiruma on the same platform.’ They are the ones who started this controversy. We need to be careful in an environment where such people exist. This is what he said.

Continuing, to the question regarding BJP leader Annamalai’s statement about whether VKC is under the control of Thirumavalavan or under the control of Aadhav Arjuna, he said, “Let him first say whether BJP is under Adani’s control? Is it under Modi’s control? And then I will answer this.” He said.

Earlier, on Ambedkar’s death anniversary on December 6, the book launch of ‘Ellorukumana Thalaivar Ambedkar’ was held at the Trade Center in Chennai. Ambedkar’s grandson Anand Teltumde, Tamil Nadu Vetrika Kazhagam President Vijay, former judge K. Chandru, VCI Deputy General Secretary Aadhav Arjuna and others participated in the event.

Speaking at the event, Aadhav Arjuna said, “They say it is wrong to ask for a share in governance and power. A coalition government should be formed in Tamil Nadu. People from the Scheduled Castes should participate in it. Monarchy prevails here. If you ask a question, they immediately say ‘Shangi’. There is no place for monarchy in Tamil Nadu. Monarchy will be completely abolished in 2026.” His comments caused a big stir in the Tamil Nadu political arena.

Following this, the party’s Thirumavalavan announced this morning that the party’s Deputy General Secretary Aadhav Arjuna will be suspended from the party for a period of six months.
