Salem: Due to Cyclone Fenjal, Yercaud received very heavy rain of 144.4 mm and 238 mm in the next two days. This has caused landslides in the hill villages of Yercaud. Due to the landslides that occurred in places on the Salem-Yerrcaud road, traffic on the road to Yercaud has been disrupted.

Salem district has been receiving continuous rain for the last three days due to the intensification of the northeast monsoon. Due to the rain, people have been affected by the rain inundating low-lying areas in Salem and its suburbs. Similarly, Yercaud received heavy rain of 144.4 mm on Saturday and 238 mm on Sunday. Incessant rains accompanied by wind have caused trees to fall in many places in Yercaud, causing severe traffic disruption.

Upon receiving information, highway department officials rushed to the scene and are engaged in the work of removing the trees. Traffic has been disrupted due to a landslide near the 60-foot bridge in Yercaud. Landslides have occurred in many places in Yercaud. Due to this, traffic has been disrupted in many hill villages of Yercaud. Meanwhile, Collector Brinda Devi has ordered a ban on tourists from going to Yercaud due to a landslide on the Salem-Yerrcaud mountain road.

Collector Brinda Devi personally inspected the landslide area in Yercaud yesterday and advised the officials. Accordingly, highway department officials are engaged in the work of repairing the landslide. The officials are engaged in the work of inspecting the landslide areas on the mountain road and laying sandbags. Similarly, power outages have occurred in many villages in Yercaud for the past two days due to falling trees.

As a result, the villagers have to live in darkness without electricity in their homes. As snowfall continues to increase in Yercaud, people are unable to go outdoors and are stuck inside their homes. The rain has disrupted the normal life of the people in Yercaud.
